Working within the import shipping team of a major retail group, on behalf of a leading freight management and supply chain company.
Candidates must have a solid grounding within freight forwarding with good operational knowledge in air, sea and road if possible. Able to work independently as well as a team player. Customs knowledge (how entry works, duty rates, classification codes etc), documentation, Far East and Indian Subcontinent markets. Knowledge of cross trade ex FE/ISC into Europe would be a distinct advantage. Any retail logistics experience would also be advantageous as there will interaction with the clients Imports team and the buying and merchandise functions to maintain the close working relationship. Written and verbal communication skills are essential in this role as well as a dynamic and influential personality. PC literate with proven knowledge and working experience of Excel and Internet based tracking systems also essential.
- Operational Queries - Ensure all queries are responded to by close of play each day
- Authorisation Report - checking and liaising with merchandisers
- Dashboard Checks - identify hot spots that are critical, i.e containers in demurrage etc
- Booking Control Report - check correct carrier and POA choices by origin partner
- Action Lists - Origin (Progress Check / Booking / Manifest / Despatch / Documents Despatched)
- Vessel ETA / Arrival change alerts
- Liaising with merchandise team/warehouse re booking schedules for the following week - ensuring all docs issues / vessel delays are notified
